The Double Bass as an E♭ Instrument- High B♭ Solo Tuning

High B♭ Solo Tuning relates to Bottesini’s other tuning (a minor third above orchestra tuning) that modern double bassists do not commonly utilize. It is a transposing instrument and is, in musical terms, an E♭ Instrument similar to the Alto Saxophone; the concert pitch sounds a major 6th below notated pitch. The double bass tuning is G, C, f, b♭(low to high strings).
